As a civil engineer, they say you always remember the first large project you led and delivered.

Nothing can be more true for 23-year-old Gisborne project manager, Hamish Moore.

Last year Hamish was given the opportunity to manage the construction of Cranswick Enterprises’ new headquarters and workshop in Gisborne’s Aerodrome Subdivision.

The 1200m2 coresteel building boasts ample office spaces, boardroom and a large workshop space. Director Kim Cranswick said the energy and focus Hamish brought to the project made all the difference.“As with every project, there are a number of challenges and Hamish did a great job of navigating them.

We’re happy with the outcome,” he said.

Hamish admits there were a few nerves at the start of the project but they quickly disappeared with the support of the team as time went on.

“As an assistant project manager I got a lot of experience doing similar projects but when you’re leading there’s a different level of pressure to get it right for the client.”Born and raised in Gisborne, Hamish completed an internship at WSP straight after school before joining CPS.

“Yeah I can’t say much about my performance at school but I’m pleased I found civil engineering as a career.”

CPS Principal Project Manager Russell Moylan says Hamish has a bright future ahead of him.

“He already has quite the reputation in the local civil construction industry and we’re enjoying seeing him grow into a talented project manager, he said.
